A Companion along the way

Plumb-Drifting

There's a sea of lonely
swimming sad
Looking just for
An arm to grab
I don't need to
Understand
I'm just lending you
the two that I have

You might be drifting
And can't find the shore
So hopeless
And all alone
The waves are crashing
All around you
And just when you've lost the will to live
You see the sun

Can we make a search light
From all the bridges that we burn
Do you see a rescue
Or a deeper kind of hurt
Who could love you
Who could hold you
I'd swim across the sea
You don't have to be alone
Where the shallow gets so deep

I am hurt and nearly drown
(open up your eyes)
I cry for help you turned around
(open up your eyes)
Farther from the shore
(or you'll be)
Farther from the shore
I am hurt and nearly drown
(you're not alone)
I cry for help you turned around
(I'm not letting go)
Farther from the shore
(So you're not...)
Farther from the shore

Finding one person who you trust and can talk to about hurtful incidents, events that you have experienced can be the difference to walking into healing and surviving even one day thriving. As the song lyrics put it 'An arm to grab, I'm just lending you the two that I have'. The power in verbalising and being listened to is affirmation of your soul as of worth. That you as an individual deserve to be respected and listened to,heard. When you are hurting and feeling alone to know by another persons actions that you are not alone that they are there to listen is soul saving if not life saving. There is a reason you survived a reason you strive to thrive and overcome these events. Even when we cannot see that we matter enough to keep striving forward that is when another person can show us what they see that we cannot. There is a purpose in you having survived. If you have a faith in God and wonder do I have a purpose, why did I survive? Then I gently suggest you ask God the question as to what is my purpose in that I survived these events and even though I struggle for healing and to overcome what is the reason I am still here? What is it you have for me to do? Help me God see it...Show me God...I need your help to know...and wait on God giving you that answer which may be a quiet word spoken just for you by God or a scripture verse read or something someone says to you. How will you know? Well I have learned you just know that this is God's message for you.
If you are struggling right now please reach out to someone and even if you cannot talk about the events just reach out to someone you trust and say I'm struggling. Sometimes this is all we need to gather our strength to walk through another day.

When Heaven Touches Your Face...

Casting Crowns-Wedding Day (lyrics)

There's a stirring in the throne room
And all creation holds it's breath
Waiting now to see the bridegroom
Wondering how the bride will dress
And she wears white
And she knows that she's undeserving
She bears the shame of history
But this worn and weary maiden
Is not the bride that he sees
And she wears white, head to toe
But only he could make it so

When someone dries your tears
When someone wins your heart
And says your beautiful
When you don't know you are
And all you've longed to see
Is written on his face
When love has come and finally
Set you free

On that wedding day
On that wedding day

She has danced in golden castles
And she has crawled
Through beggar's dust
But today she stands before him
And she wears his righteousness
And she will be who he adores
This is what he made her for

When someone dries your tears
When someone wins your heart
And says your beautiful
When you don't know you are
And all you've longed to see
Is written on his face
When love has come and finally
Set you free

When the hand that bears
the only scars
And heaven touch her face
And the last tears she'll ever cry
Are finally wiped away
And the clouds roll back as he
takes her hand
And walks her through the gates
Forever we will reign

When someone dries your tears
When someone wins your heart
And says your beautiful
When you don't know you are
And all you've longed to see
Is written on his face
When love has come and finally
Set you free

On that Wedding day (x4)

Tomorrow Will Be Better...

Martina McBride, Anyway (Lyrics)

You can spend your
whole life buildin'
somethin' from nothin'
One storm can come
and blow it all away
Build it anyway

You can chase a dream
that seems so out of reach
And you know it might
not ever come your way
Dream it anyway

God is great, but sometimes
life ain't good
When I pray it doesn't always
turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway
I do it anyway

This world's gone crazy
and it's hard to believe
that tomorrow  will be better
than today
Believe it anyway

You can love someone
with all your heart
For all the right reasons
And in a moment they
can choose to walk away
love' em anyway

God is great, but sometimes
life ain't good
When I pray it doesn't always
turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway
I do it anyway

You can pour your soul
out singing
A song you believe in
That tomorrow they'll
forget you ever sang
sing it anyway
Yeah, sing it anyway

I sing, I dream, I love
Anyway

These lyrics especially spoke to me:

"It's hard to believe tomorrow will be better
than today
Believe it anyway"

I am believing it anyway...

Not Yet...

Question?

Why does God not just make me well now? Instantly heal me now?
Make me whole, now?

Why, Why, Why....

Then I read a book and my question was answered. I share this with you because perhaps you are also asking this question and maybe this is an answer for you to.

Christopher H Rosik, PhD, writes:

The answer may have something to do with the premium God places on truth. If we are his disciples, Jesus says, "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" (John 8:32). Jesus, of course is the personification of this truth (John 14:6). Yet might it also be possible that each of us are, through this truth, called to become increasingly aware of our own personal truth, including the aspects of our childhoods that may have been too painful to acknowledge or remember at the time?

If genuine healing only occurs in the light of a conscious awareness of truth, then it seems possible to understand the prolonged healing process as an expression of God's gracious care. Severe childhood trauma survivors would be overwhelmed and retraumatized were God to suddenly release into their awareness all the truth of their hidden spiritual, emotional and physical pain. This would not lead to wholeness but to further psychological fragmentation if God granted such a request for immediate healing.

How many times...

The words in this song speak for me at the moment.
The words in this song express the longing and the pain.
The words will resonate with anyone struggling.
Sometimes it is a small simple thing
like the words in a song which keep us holding on.

A blanket of Silence...

Sometimes we are silenced by events or having to deal with past events and the impact that has had or is having on us. I find myself in such a place at the moment and I cannot speak even in the written word which has essentially silenced me. I know it will pass. In these times because I have my faith I hold onto God and I listen for father God's guidance and healing as this song expresses so well.
This is a part of the painful journey we must walk through to come to our healing and recovery. In essence sitting with and processing events, emotions, feelings and healing all of those in the process.
The hope is the final destination of new life of a thriving and not just a surviving.
I have hope in reaching that destination but it is a struggle, a painful one and no one else can walk this path of recovery for you. So I am letting be what is at the moment-the silenced words in speaking and writing knowing the hope is absolute that the silence will end and the words will be released and in the releasing healing will take another step forward.
Thriving will become a reality.
